First-year students from Nagaoka Municipal Tohoku Junior High School visited our university.

On Thursday, July 6, first-year students from Nagaoka Municipal Tohoku Junior High School visited our university to learn about their future careers.

We explained the activities of the center aimed at addressing challenges in Niigata—a major rice-producing region—as well as the SDG initiatives being promoted by our university. Young faculty members—Assistant Professors Watari, Nakamura, and Takimoto, and Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Suzuki—then spoke about the profession of “researcher.”

Middle school students asked a variety of questions, such as what inspired them to become researchers and what their childhood dreams were.

I would be delighted if you became interested in the profession of “researcher,” which helps shape the society of the future.
