I participated in the "Nagaoka City Bio-Industry Future Exchange Meeting."
On Thursday, February 19th, I participated in the "Nagaoka City Bio-Industry Future Exchange Meeting" held at the Nagaoka Grand Hotel.
This event was hosted by Nagaoka Bioeconomy Consortium in Nagaoka City, under the umbrella of "Matching HUB Nagaoka," and was held with the aim of promoting the growth of the bio-industry, creating new businesses, and fostering industry-industry and industry-academia collaboration.
In the first part of the pitch presentation, Senior URA Yoshifumi Suzuki from our base presented the activities of the COI-NEXT base, which aims for complete resource circulation based on Niigata's rich rice resources, and the initiatives of the Regional GX Innovation Collaboration Center.
Additionally, at the poster session for the second part, Mayor Isooda of Nagaoka called out, "We want to create new industries in Nagaoka using the power of bio. We hope that diverse companies will actively utilize Nagaoka as a field for their demonstrations." Over 120 participants, including bio-related companies and research institutions from across the country, interacted, making it a lively networking event.
Many people, including Mayor Isoda, visited our booth at this base. We were able to have a meaningful time sharing research and activities that address the challenges faced by the bio-industry, and passionately discussing the future direction of the bio-industry.

At the closing, Professor Ogasawara, the Project Leader (PL) of this base and also the Vice Chairman of the Nagaoka City Bio-Consortium, stated, "Based on a culture symbolized by Japan's sincere work ethic, by continuing to build trust and expand our network, the bio-industry has the potential to grow not only domestically but also internationally."
This event is expected to raise awareness and foster understanding of the COI-NEXT base among a wide range of stakeholders, further accelerating industry-academia-government collaboration in the field of biotechnology in Nagaoka City.
