[Topic] Community Development Through Rural-Urban Symbiosis
[Abstract] We believe that community development based on the coexistence of rural and urban areas (rural-urban coexistence) is essential. Through activities that foster interaction, collaboration, and coexistence between urban residents and farmers, a cycle of information, economic activity, and human resources is created, thereby promoting community development in both urban and rural areas.
It is also important for urban residents to visit rural areas, spend some leisurely time there—buying local produce at farmers’ markets, eating and drinking at farm-to-table restaurants, and staying at farm-stay accommodations. I believe that such activities will deepen urban residents’ understanding of agriculture and rural communities. Furthermore, I believe that collaboration with other sectors—such as “Agriculture × [X]”—is essential for the development of agriculture.
