The children at Nakajima Kindergarten took part in a hands-on farming experience!

On August 31, 61 children from Nakajima Kindergarten visited the farm near the university to take part in a hands-on farming experience.

During this hands-on activity, we tried our hand at planting potatoes and sowing daikon radish seeds.
Despite the intense heat and blazing sun, the preschoolers worked hard until the very end, even as they worked up a sweat.
Since they had thoroughly studied beforehand that “daikon radishes can be harvested in about 70 days,” the children were interested in farming and growing crops, and they seemed to be having fun getting their hands dirty.
The crops we planted together are expected to be ready for harvest around late November.
The preschoolers are already looking forward to harvesting the vegetables they’ve grown, and the university staff are eagerly anticipating their reunion with the energetic children.
